Many students in Türkiye want to join academic competitions but do not know where to start, so I wanted to share what I have learned about applying to TÜBİTAK high school research projects. The process is actually simpler than it looks. First, students choose a research topic in fields such as engineering, social sciences, physics, biology or computer science. After that, they either work with a school advisor or find a mentor teacher who can guide them during the project. Applications are submitted through the TÜBİTAK ARBİS system, where students create an account and upload their project proposal, research plan and explanations of what makes their idea original. Teams can be one to three students, and it is free to apply. What matters most is not having the perfect experiment but showing clear thinking, curiosity and a real attempt to solve a problem. Winning is great, but the best part is the learning experience that comes from trying something challenging and seeing your idea turn into a real project.
